I was reading one of my favourite blogs gofugyourself by the fuggirls featuring Matt Damon’s most recent cover on GQ, saying how the article on him is really good and full of interesting anecdotes, and I wanted to share this:
Julia Stiles (co-star, ‘Bourne’ films): “After The Bourne Ultimatum came out, there was a premiere in London. Prince actually came to it, then got tickets for the cast to come see him [perform]. We were summoned into a room, to meet him [after the show]. Matt said, ‘So you live in Minnesota? I hear you live in Minnesota.’”
Damon: “Prince said, ‘I live inside my own heart, Matt Damon.’”
I’ve been trying to find a way to introduce this latest work, this tribute to a singular artist. I can’t say in all honesty that I was a huge fan, since I love maybe 5 songs of his… but he was rare in his genius, and there won’t be another one of him on this earth.
“I live inside my own heart.”
That is a Princely thing to say. And I’m sure he did. And it was a good heart, full of beautiful things, sometimes painfully so… I hope it was a good life, with more love than the darkness that an artist often feels he has to embrace to authentically express what he has inside.
